Pendlewood’s Bench a TV Star!

One of Pendlewood’s longest serving products is our Memorial Bench, but its not just longevity that the handcrafted beauty can boast about, as the bench is a star on one of telly’s top shows – Coronation Street!

There its is! Maxine's memorial bench is 100% Pendlewood.

The Memorial bench has been sitting proudly outside the Rovers Return for a few years now as it is the memorial bench for the character of Maxine Peacock, who met a grisly end a few years ago when she became a victim during the famous ‘Corrie Serial Killer’ storyline.

Whether you loved or hated Maxine there can be little doubt that her memory on Britain’s favourite street has been tastefully and beautifully preserved! Indeed Fred Elliot took a butcher’s at it and famously declared it as “a bench fit for a king! I say for for a king!”

As can be seen from the surrounding pictures our memorial benches are painstakingly handcrafted with the finest (and sustainable) timbers available.

So if you want to provide a loved one with a fitting and dignified legacy, give Pendlewood a call now.

Pendlewood Continues to expand!!!

Pendlewood has continued to grow throughout the current recession and the development of the company recently took another huge step forward as we expanded our premises – to twice the size as before!

A deal was completed for Pendlewood to acquire the large vacant unit next door to our current headquarters, on the Gillibrands industrial estate in Skelmersdale. This has more than doubled the workshop and assembly areas, which allows our staff to deal with the constantly increasing amount of customer orders and the resulting production demands that come with this.

It has also enabled Pendlewood to enlarge the office space – which was much needed given that office staff numbers have doubled over the past 12 months – and there are plans for that number to increase even further in both the short and long term (for current vacancies click here).

In addition to this the company has recently invested in new machinery to ensure that the quality of products remains as high as ever despite the huge increases in demand. This has meant an additional saw, a new sanding machine and extractors have all joined the Pendlewood family in the past few weeks.

Alan Pendlewood, Managing Director, is delighted with the ongoing growth of the company. He commented: “I am absolutely delighted that our company’s expansion plans are becoming a reality. This is an extremely exciting time for everybody at Pendlewood and just goes to show that even in a recession it is not only possible to survive – but actually thrive!

“For me the only thing more exciting than the current expansion is our ambitious plans for the future. We are already creating local jobs for local people at a record rate and this is something that is only going to continue. Pendlewood is a company that is going places and I look forward to our fantastic product range being enjoyed by more and more customers in 2009 and beyond.”

Take a look at the pictures below to see our new spacious premises and our staff enjoying the new machinery!

The new expanded premises have given us much more production space, which is essential given the ever increasing amount of orders!
