Old Hall Drive Primary, Manchester
Pendlewood's redevelopment of Old Hall Drive Primary School
in June 2009 was a huge success. The previously drab and moribund recreational
area has now been replaced with a dynamic, fun-filled educational play space.
The all-new playground now features a great array of
Pendlewood's finest products. The variety means that all educational bases are
covered. We have made sure that learning outside the classroom is easily
accessible, that we are offering children a secure and safe area in which to
play and that we ensured that children are able to indulge in imaginative,
creative role play.
These products included:
Mini-Tot Garage, a MUGA, compete with Target Board, Cricket stumps and a Basketball net. There was also a varied selection of products including a Storyteller's Area, Buddy Bench, Nature Area, Rainbow Bridge, Chalkboard and Wooden Fencing
Carolyn Mannock, Old Hall's Foundation Stage Co-Ordinator
shared the school's experience of working with Pendlewood. Here is her story:
"We were looking for a complete revamp of our school yard.
We wanted it to be fun-filled, educationally relevant and something that will
hold the attention of the children for years to come. After meeting with
several different companies we decided to choose Pendlewood because of their
professional and enthusiastic approach and advice as well as their knowledge of
child development and Early Years Learning Goals. This has proven to be a great
choice!
The new play area is now so much more purposeful. We are now
able to provide continuous outdoor play for all 6 areas of Learning outside the Classroom. Staff have already commented on how
the children now have more respect for the outdoor area and have really become
engaged with the different areas.
Remarks overhead from the children include: "This is
awesome" and "do not go on the mud because the seeds are growing", which I
believe encapsulates that they are finding it fun and also feel a real affinity
and respect towards it.
The MUGA has been a huge success and everything we had
envisaged it to be too. It's given our pupils a focus and is really encouraging
them to develop different ball skills and build their confidence.
Following installation being completed, we arranged a
special opening party for the children, parents and, of course, a couple of
Pendlewood staff! It was an extremely successful event and we received numerous
positive comments from the parents including "I wish I could have it my garden.
It's amazing!", "What a great place to talk to your friends" and "I bet there
will be some lovely wildlife around here".
The Pendlewood staff was involved and available right
throughout the installations and any queries or adjustments we requested were
done immediately... and always with a smile!
It has been a pleasure working together, many thanks
Pendlewood!!!"
