HMS Bounty

School Play and Climb - School Playground Equipment

The HMS Bounty is Pendlewood's most adventurous play and climb structure ever produced!

The huge ship design is jam packed with a wide variety of obstacles, challenges and features that will give children hours of fun while also offering a multitude of educational benefits and opportunities for physical development and mental stimulation.

Features on this Titanic play creation include a Cargo Net, a daring crawl tunnel (with mirrors) and a climbing pole. The side of the ship is turned into an audacious traversing wall too thanks to some colourful hand and foot grips.

The Deck itself is a versatile and exciting place. Role play is encouraged thanks to the ‘captain's cabin' which is complete with a steering wheel and a captain's chair which has a special ship-themed engraving. There is a canopy and seating on the deck too which gives the youngsters a place to draw breath between bouts of activity, as well as acting as a great outdoor teaching area - as is recommended in the government's Learning Outside the Classroom manifesto.

With all these exciting options and challenges children of all ages and abilities will be able to enjoy the play ship and the ship is also fully DDA compliant, with a ramp leading up to the deck. It's fair to say that a playground without the HMS Bounty is really missing the boat.

This huge structure was the result of a tremendous project that took place between Pendlewood and the Forefield Junior School in Merseyside. Click here for the full story!

Due to Environmental reasons we choose to use European Redwood. This is one of the hardest softwoods available and is suitable for exterior usage. It has a natural resilience, and the introduction of the preservative Tanalith E helps this timber have a greater life span than some hardwoods - without the negative environmental impact associated with exotic hardwoods.

Redwood timber is fully grown in 50 years. It is also harvested and replanted in 50% of the time that it takes a hardwood tree to reach maturity. All redwood used by Pendlewood is harvested from sustainable forests.
