Pendlewood was formed over twelve years ago with a mission statement promoting ethics and ideals.

Pendlewood is located in Skelmersdale, rural Lancashire. We have created long-term jobs in an employment black spot developing highly skilled positions for long-term prosperity, proving that the ideals of Local Agenda 21 can produce ‘sustainable’ companies working with locally sourced resources - thus closing the loop on supply and demand. Pendlewood is not supported by Local Government; we are self-funding through selling quality hardwood products.
The original ideals are now tried and tested so much so that we have rolled these ideas out to cover other areas of the UK for example, Gateshead, Wigan, We are currently in negotiations with other local authorities throughout the UK.
We have evolved into a commercial company with a caring heart.

With the demographic changes to large companies, the way they work has changed with many of these companies throwing away people over the age of 45. Pendlewood believes this to be both a waste and a lost opportunity. We recruit from this age group, giving them both training and long-term prospects.

Our recruitment policy is aimed at people between the ages of 16-20 who have not realised their full potential in education, and who need extra training to enable them to appreciate their true potential. By combining the two, we will prosper for the future, gaining the enthusiasm of our young people and mixing this with the experience of age, therefore overcoming the problems of long-term unemployment. Over the past decade we have established links with our local schools to increase our training capacities to enable local pupils to advance these skills whilst still at school, mentoring and supporting our local schools to establish links with industry.

Quality and reliability of our handcrafted products is paramount in the growth of our company. Each item is painstakingly constructed in our busy workshop, allowing each article to have its own personality. Not just a mass-produced item, we build to individual orders.

We are currently negotiating to buy our first forest; linking this to our production facility will ensure that we will be able to supply our clients with truly sustainable produced timber. A forest managed within FSC Guidelines, creating more local jobs, and leaving a great green legacy for our future generations to enjoy and treasure.
