MORE INFORMATION
Redwood:
Timber Species – Upper Gulf unsorted Redwood: Pinus Sylvestris
Due to environmental reasons we choose sustainable redwood. We specify Upper Gulf unsorted redwood at the best grade available. Upper gulf means it is from the Northern areas of Scandinavia. This area has the best environment to produce the perfect growing conditions for redwood timber giving a tighter grain structure, thus making the redwood a much more durable timber. Redwood is one of the most durable pine timbers available and is excellent for exterior use. It has a natural resilience to the outdoor environment and with the introduction of a preservative, its life expectancy will extend far beyond that of many hardwoods.
Redwood timber is fully grown in 40 years. It is sustainably harvested and replanted in 25% of the time that it takes a hardwood tree to reach maturity. This means it has a reduced carbon footprint compared to exotic hardwoods. All redwood used by Pendlewood is harvested from European sustainable forests and is managed in accordance with FSC and PEFC sustainable forest policies.
Tanalith E helps this timber have a great lifespan without the negative environmental impact associated with harvesting hardwoods from the rainforests of the world.
95mm x 45mm timber slats all corners eased.
